Aparna Nancherla’s Half Hour comedy special aired on September 9, offering the stand-up comic’s unique takes on depression, anxiety, catcalling, internet listicle articles, and the horrors of the dating scene when YODO (You Only Date Occasionally). View the full episode on Comedy Central, and watch a couple video clips from her set in this post.

In the first clip (“So Much Anxiety”), Nancherla talks about anxiety as just another part of her life, like browsing the internet or dating or catcalling, to be examined for its weirdness and humanity and humor. One of the inspiring qualities of Just Putting it Out There, her debut comedy album released in July, is this kind of frank discussion of depression, anxiety and medication.

Nancherla ends her first Comedy Central Half Hour special by telling the story of an intensely awkward date with an Indian fan/hater. Watch this second clip (“The Perils of Online Dating”) to find out how the date came about.
