GALLERY: Miss America Nina Davuluri Meets Vanessa Williams, Takes Selfies

NVselfieAs the Miss America Nina Davuluri hype cycle starts winding down, we’d be remiss if we didn’t cover her visit yesterday with former Miss America queen Vanessa Williams. Like Davuluri, Williams also hails from Syracuse, New York; Williams also has the distinction of becoming the first African-American Miss America winner, crowned so in 1983. Davuluri dropped by after Williams had performed on Broadway in The Trip To Bountiful.

One does wonder what they talked about: How to avoid racist Twitter trolls? Trying to teach the public about the talents you might possess beyond your ethnicity? Or perhaps Williams gave Davuluri some useful career advice on how to kick ass and take names. The shots do have an exciting air of mentor-protégé about them, don’t they?

  1. “Hi, You’re pretty! Just like me!” “I know, right??” “Yah!” “So, pretty!!””Yah!””…Just like ME!!” … “I know, right??” #conversation

    • Check your facts. Nina went to University of Michigan and graduated with a degree in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science and is applying to med school. It is also a service position. Get over yourself and do something with your life.
