Hot News Mix: A Giant Walk-In Vagina, Aziz to Netflix, Parisian Auto Rickshaws, & Last-Minute Labor Day Recipes

A Screaming Vagina as Art: When organizers asked South African artist Reshma Chhiba to create a piece for a now-abandoned apartheid-era women’s prison, they probably weren’t expecting “a 39 foot high red fabric vagina surrounded by black fabric pubic hair that occasionally screams.” Chhiba told the AFP that she wanted her piece — called “The Two Talking Yonis” — to start a discussion about women’s bodies and power. Can’t make it to Johannesburg? The Afrikaans-language daily Beeld has helpfully posted a video taken from inside the exhibit onto YouTube. (Jezebel)

Aziz Heads to Netflix: Big news for comedy fans: Buried azizansariburiedaliveAlive, Aziz Ansari’s next special, will make its debut on Netflix on November 1. Don’t have Netflix? Don’t fret, the special will go on sale for $5 on Ansari’s personal site one month later. (Los Angeles Times)

Tuk-Tuks in Paris: Long associated with crowded Asian cities, the auto rickshaw has steadily become a familiar sight on the streets of Paris. Tourists can now flag a rickshaw in front of iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. (AFP)

Coleslaws With an Asian Twist: Looking for some last-minute ideas for your Labor Day barbecue? Visi Tilak compiled recipes for Tangy Carrot Slaw, Kerala Cabbage Coconut Coleslaw, and many more in this 2012 piece for NPR. Yum! (NPR’s Kitchen Window)
