Jazz It Up Retro-Style With Our Bombay Velvet CD Giveaway

Inspired by James Ellroy’s Los Angeles-based crime fiction novels, Anurag Kashyap’s crime drama Bombay Velvet tells the story of street-fighter Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) and aspiring jazz singer Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma). The film releases on May 15. Its vintage charm includes retro hairstyles, Prohibition-era fashion, period sets and — an amazing mix of sounds. The soundtrack promises to be one of the best of 2015 with its mix of classic Bollywood and jazz + big band transporting listeners back to India’s jazz scene of the 1960s.

For details on how to enter to win one of three CDs in our giveaway, please scroll down to the end of this post.

Music director Amit Trivedi worked with lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and The City of Prague Philharmonic and Mikey McCleary for the film’s soundtrack. Mumbai/New Jersey’s Suman Sridhar sings “Fifi”, a  lively track that will get your toes tapping in anticipation of the rest of the film’s music. Singers Neeti Mohan, Shefali Alvares, Shalmali Kholgade, Papon and Mohit Chauhan also contribute vocals.
