It’s no secret that we here at The Aerogram love old letters and the handwritten word. So we were delighted to learn via Buzzfeed Shift that Rajiv Surendra (the former actor best known for his role as Kevin G. in the 2004 teen movie “Mean Girls“) is now a noted calligrapher.
In an interview with Société Perrier this past January, Surendra explained that his interest in the art began as a preteen:
When I was 12, someone gave me a pile of old letters from the 19th century and I was floored by how beautiful the handwriting was. I started copying the letterforms in elementary school with a pencil and began to use that style of writing as my own handwriting.
