Maulik Pancholy to Make Broadway Debut in It’s Only a Play

Move over Ronald Weasley, the show must go on.

Maulik Pancholy is making his Broadway debut in It’s Only a Playstepping in to play the role of Frank Finger, formerly played by Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame.

The theatrical performance is the story of “a panicked playwright” (played by Matthew Broderick), eager to find out whether the opening night of his play will captivate audience members or land a bad review with the critics. Will he put his career on the line? Or will he stay sane with the support from a slew of humorous producers, a genius director (formerly Rupert Grint), and a “doped-up” diva (Stockard Channing)?

Pancholy, who currently serves on the President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs, is best known for his roles in comedy television shows like Sanjay and Craig, Weeds, Phineas and Ferb and 30 Rock. He has also starred in various roles on the big screen in 27 Dresses and Hitch and was recently in Out magazine’s Out100 list in 2013.

Pancholy’s Broadway debut also falls in the midst of his engagement anniversary at the Taj Mahal with long-time partner Ryan Corvaia last January.
