A Little Bit Of Ha Ha Hee Hee For Your Summer

With apologies to Meera Syal, here’s a mini-roundup of comedy shows and tours featuring desi comedians this summer. Got an upcoming show or event to share with readers of The Aerogram? Leave a comment or email us at editors@theaerogram.com.

Siblings of Doctors. While sibling Danny Pudi wraps up with Community on Yahoo!, siblings Rasika Mathur and Ranjit Souri will be holding it down in Houston, with free shows of improv, sketches and stories at the George R. Brown Convention Center July 11-12, 4 p.m.

Second Annual Desi Comedy Fest. The Desi Comedy Festival, August 12-19, is an annual comedy festival featuring South Asian comedians. The Bay Area based festival features 8 shows in San Francisco, Sacramento, Oakland, Pleasanton and Sunnyvale. The comedians in the festival have  been featured on Comedy Central, Comedy TimeTV, CNN, BBC, Forbes, The MOTH StorySLAM, NPR and more. Show details.

Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival. Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer will headline this year’s edition of Funny or Die’s Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, August 28-October 18, with shows in 18 cities. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

Modern Romance Book Tour. So this book tour with dates through July 17 isn’t strictly speaking stand-up comedy. But funny man Aziz Ansari is bound to crack a few jokes while discussing the world of dating with co-author sociologist Eric Klinenberg. A recent episode of This American Life shared audio of them collecting raw data at a NY comedy club focus group.
