Spotlight On: Bollywood-Hollywood Doppelgängers

I recently indoctrinated one of my non-desi friends to the world of Bollywood, and as we were watching Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, she couldn’t quite figure out why Ranbir Kapoor’s face seemed so familiar. Slowly but surely, after 3ish hours of watching Ranbir romance Deepika on-screen, she realized that she had identified Ranbir’s Hollywood doppelgänger. Armed with yet another Bollywood-Hollywood look-alike in my repertoire, I decided that it was time to put my own observations over the years to the test.

In no particular order, here’s a look at my top five Bollywood-Hollywood twinsies:

1. Aditya Roy Kapur and Ashton Kutcher

One day I would like to introduce these two to each other: “Hey, AK, meet AK.”

2. Ranbir Kapoor and Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Their dashing good looks aside, these two both also happen to be the sons of once-upon-a-time famous actors.

3. Katrina Kaif and Nia Vardalos

The 20+ year age difference between these two doesn’t make their resemblance any less obvious.

4. Hrithik Roshan and Bradley Cooper

Beautiful eyes, albeit different colors, and fabulous hair are just two of the things that make these two share an uncanny resemblance.

5. Akshay Khanna and Matthew McConaughey

Maybe the upcoming movie Bombay Samurai will do for Akshay Khanna’s career what Dallas Buyers Club did for Matthew McConaughey’s career? Likely not, but hey, we can always hope.
