“I was the kid that never got the cool Valentine’s Day cards,” says activist and writer Tanzila Ahmed, of Los Angeles. So last year, she started painting a set of parody V-Day cards about Islamaphobia that she photocopied at Kinko’s and sent off to a small circle of friends. “I created a hashtag called #MuslimVDayCard,” recalls Ahmed, “I was trying to make people think about Muslims and love differently.” This year she sent off twice as many.
