When Danny Met Mindy. It’s no secret that Mindy Kaling is a big fan of Nora Ephron and her movies, including When Harry Met Sally. A fan-made video shows the many similarities between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in that 1989 film with Danny and Mindy in the current TV series The Mindy Project. Kal Penn Wants You to Live Long. When he’s not busy dressing up as Brown Santa, niche-tweeting about the bhang-like qualities of egg nog and changing his cousins’ names on their iPhones to Hindi insults, Kal Penn is part of a national campaign encouraging friends to talk to friends about getting health insurance coverage. Here he is working for the “Tell A Friend – Get Covered” campaign:

This Show’s the Bomb. The South Asian Women’s Creative Collective (SAWCC) brings an exhibit to the Queens Museum in New York, “A Bomb With Ribbon Around It.” Curated by Raúl Zamudio, the exhibition includes installation, performance, photography, and painting, and will run through mid-January. Half-Hearted Family Drama. The new (Mohan Rakesh) play Half-Hearted will run at Cherry Lane Theater in New York City through December 22. Set in 1969 India, the play is billed as a “South Asian family drama” that explores themes of family dysfunction. Watch Ray’s Brilliance. A Satyajit Ray retrospective will begin January 17, 2014, at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, with the screening of the 1955 movie Pather Panchali.
