Anoushka Shankar dishes on working with half-sister Norah Jones: After her father, famed sitarist Ravi Shankar, died last year Anoushka Shankar decided to channel her grief through her music and asked her half-sister Norah Jones to help out on a few tracks. Their single “The Sun Won’t Set” releases next week on October 22. Shankar told Rolling Stone that everything instantly clicked when they were in the studio with collaborator Nitin Sawhney. “We were able to really listen and respond to each other and somehow really locked in to perform a live take together beautifully, even though the three of us had never played all together before.” (Rolling Stone)
A new addition to the cast of The Walking Dead: Actor Sunkrish Bala (Shameless, Notes from the Underbelly and those Vonage commercials) announced last week that he’d be joining the cast of The Walking Dead this season. Bala made his series debut on Sunday, playing Dr. Subramanian. (Sunkrish Bala’s Facebook page)
Principal Figgins pays tribute to Finn Hudson: Actor Iqbal Theba, who plays Principal Figgins on Fox’s hit show Glee, originally wasn’t scheduled to appear in last week’s episode honoring late star Cory Monteith, but was written in after requesting to take part. Show creator Ryan Murphy told USA Today that Theba “personally called up [co-executive producer] Brad [Falchuk] and I and said, ‘For (Cory), I want to be in it.'” (USA Today)
