Hannah Simone Takes Your Questions. New Girl actress Hannah Simone braved an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit yesterday to take questions from the internet public. If you missed it, catch up and read how she feels about “Schmece” and Cyprus, among other topics.
One of the most interesting parts of the AMA when when a fellow biracial South Asian asked Simone about looking “ethnically ambiguous.” Here’s Simone’s reply:
Thank you! I just stopped trying to fit in and realized the power in being ethnically ambiguous. I focused on what I loved and my cultural background gave me a unique perspective that opened a lot of doors. That in turn created a platform for me to share the things I am passionate about. Being on this show is a gift on so many levels including have a south asian face representing!

Bangladeshi Bt Brinjal. The Deccan Herald reports that Bangladesh has become the first Asian country to allow its farmers to cultivate four approved varieties of Bt brinjal, genetically modified eggplant. Following approval from Bangladesh’s National Committee on Biosafety last week, the government cleared the varieties for commercial release. The end product would be labeled as GM in the market. India has an indefinite moratorium on commercial release of Bt brinjal. [Deccan Herald]
