• In an interview with Vogue UK, Nina Davuluri defends the Miss America pageant: “A lot of people don’t know that the Miss America programme is actually the biggest women’s scholarship programme in the world. It provides more than $45 million in funding every year. When I was 16, I was [the] first runner-up in Miss Teen America. That prize enabled me to graduate from college debt-free with a degree in Brain Behaviour & Cognitive Science, and so, when I was in the process of applying to medical school, I returned to the programme. I applied for Miss Syracuse, and then Miss New York, before I entered Miss America. Pretty much everyone in the programme is paying for college or graduate studies.” [Vogue UK]

I don’t think she’s actually collaborating with Robin Thicke. If you watch the video, she’s just covering “Blurred Lines” during the recording session.
Why doesn’t Aeogram or other blogs ever write anything about how she’s really struggling in the US just like the other Indian stars? She’s not garnering much interest from the American public and neither of her songs even charted on Billboard.
