Reshma Saujani Concedes: After receiving just 15 percent of the vote in the primary race for New York City’s public advocate, Girls Who Code nonprofit founder and former deputy Public Advocate Reshma Saujani (“It’s OK to Fail”) released a statement today thanking her supporters. In an email to them, Saujani and her husband Nihal Mehta wrote that “seventy-five thousand new yorkers voted for us. they intentionally switched their ballot to the funny name ‘reshma saujani’ in the polling station…it takes significant inspiration and influence to do that.” A runoff election scheduled for October 1 between City Councilwoman Letitia James and State Sen. Daniel Squadron will determine who gets the Democratic nomination. (WABC)
A Designer’s Colorful Abode: The fashion designer Manish Arora’s trendy Paris apartment was recently featured in the New York Times’ Great Homes section. The florid prose described the one-bedroom unit as “a colorful combination of letters, arrows, a star and even a stylized lotus…. which, in a way, combines the richness of Indian palaces and the rawness of underground techno clubs.” Also, be sure to check out the slideshow for some design ideas.
