Inspired by current events, The Pink Sorrys is an acid punk Bollywood action musical short film. It follows a gang of sari-clad women as they deliver brutal revenge to a team of gang rapists. Currently in the final days of their fundraiser to make the short film a reality, Los Angeles-based Anam Syed and Ben Stoddard’s project is a kitschy send-up of beloved genre conventions. As they state on their Kickstarter page, The Pink Sorrys team wants to talk about rape in South Asia and in the U.S. via a highly stylized route.
We live in an era where celebrities can commit sexual assault and not only continue recording pop songs and making films, but being lauded for them. All we’re saying is let’s have at least one movie where a gang of women catch a bunch of rapists and beat the daylights out of them with cricket bats.
While we wait to see what an acid punk vigilante justice Bollywood musical will look like, here are a few infographics shared with us by The Pink Sorrys. They explore a thought-provoking concept called #BollywoodLogic.
