The first full-length trailer for Aziz Ansari’s new series Master of None offers some hilarious moments from the life of Dev Shah, a 30-year old Indian actor dealing with issues of modern romance, race and figuring out what he wants. The Netflix comedy series is out on November 6, but there were a few moments in the trailer that made me wish I could watch the show right now:
- Ansari’s real-life dad giving his character Dev love advice. The comedian reveals that his dad asked him for a role as soon as he heard about the show.
- His comeback at a casting call to the comment “Ben Kingsley did an accent in Gandhi and he won an Oscar for it.” (Dev: “It wasn’t an Oscar for Best Indian Accent.”)
- When Dev and his girlfriend Rachel (played by Noël Wells) share the dramatically different comments each receives on the same Instagram photo of a frittata.
- The moment when he meets Rachel’s grandma and admits he was worried she’d be one of those “racist grandmas.”

Ten episodes of Master of None will be available on the November 6 release date, which in classic binge-watching-enabling fashion, falls on a Friday.
